The "Perfect Mom Manual"
I am writing this with a very full heart, a very sleep-deprived brain, and zero minutes spent on the couch in the last 48 hours.
If you are wondering what "insanity" looks like, let me walk you through my last few days: We had five birthday parties (yes, five!), including hosting one at my house. In between the cake and the chaos, we managed to fit in our first ski day to test out all the equipment before we head to Steamboat next week. And, somehow, amidst the madness, I finally managed to do some quick holiday shopping for the kids (on Amazon, of course).
"Why was it not in the Perfect Mom Manual that the Fall is a very intense period and to get ready to die in December?"
Seriously. The mental load right now is heavy. But I want to offer you some compassion and a reminder: This is exactly why we train. We don't stick to our self-care active routine to look good; we stick to it so we can survive weekends like this.
I had to walk the walk this weekend, too. No matter how busy it got:
Friday: I showed up to our running group + CrossFit, squeezed right in between meetings.
Sunday: I went with the girls to lift some weights.
Please, keep prioritizing yourself, especially when things get harder. It is the fuel that lets you show up for everyone else.
A Personal Victory (and a Cold Shock!) On Friday, after probably 7 months, Ale and I finally had a date night! I decided to try something new: my first cold plunge. I honestly thought I wouldn’t make it and would just retreat to the sauna, but I did it! It was an interesting experience (I might write a whole article about that later), but I’m proud I stepped out of my comfort zone.
🇮🇹 The Holiday Masterclass & The "Secret" Recipe
I really enjoyed our Holiday Masterclass this weekend, thank you to those who made it! It was so special to give you your Holiday GfM gift: the delicious Pandolce Genovese.
So many of you asked for the recipe. I am sharing it below, but I’m keeping it in Italian. I’m joking (but not really) if you truly want to make a good Pandolce, you need to learn the language and put your Italian heart into the dough! ❤️
Ricetta del Pandolce Genovese di Gio:
Ingredienti:
750 gr di farina
300 gr di burro
300 gr di zucchero
3 uova
Buon lavoro!
