I am a busy mom too!
Fall is officially here, and with it comes that familiar, beautiful, and sometimes chaotic transition back into school drop-offs, soccer, and busy calendars. I may show up for you every single day with my reassuring smile and strong shoulders, ready to help you show up, push your limits, and have fun while moving, but today I want to share a piece of my heart with you. Because the truth is, behind the energy, I have my struggles too.
My Italian Summer:
I just returned from spending the summer in Italy. After 10 long years of being an expat, I was finally able to deeply enjoy my time back home. But it wasn't a perfect postcard. There were heavy family dramas, two pretty severe health problems affecting very close family members, and a major financial issue that I fought tirelessly to fix through endless bureaucracy calls and meetings only to ultimately fail because it was simply too late. But listen, despite all of that, I chose to find the light. I had a lot of fun, and I even managed to go to the beach twice completely ALONE: can you imagine?
It reminded me how precious those tiny pockets of self-care truly are.
My new Routine:
Now that I'm back in Boulder, my biggest struggle this upcoming year is finding peace with a new reality: I am going to be a single mom during the week. My husband has moved to San Francisco for work and will be leaving every single Monday at 5:00 AM, not returning until midnight on Friday. Everything is okay: I have a spectacular routine, a wonderful network of friends, and solid paid support set in place. But I want to be entirely honest with you: I feel the stress of being the only adult at home. I really don't want to do it. But I will do it. My ultimate family and life goal for this upcoming year is to find genuine joy in my daily basis, protecting my peace with absolutely no useless stress.
How to establish your new Active Routine:
To help you navigate your own seasonal shifts and motherhood challenges, here a video filled with my top tips and advice on how to establish a sustainable, active routine. I treat these strategies like a piece of art in my own house, practicing exactly what I preach. In the video, I also share my personal fitness goals for the season ahead! Please listen to it and take exactly what you need to build a structure that long-lastingly supports you. And if you don't have a solid plan in place yet, let's figure it out together you can book your 1:1 quarterly coaching call with me right here.
I've shared my next big life goal with you... now I want to hear from you. What's yours?
Let's make this season about choosing intention over intensity, together.
P.S. As we learn how to apply the “Judo” cornerstone values to our new Active Routine: “as soft as you need as hard as you want” don’t forget that with every Quadrimester (4 months period) I need to slow down too and that’s always a good inspirational lesson for my students to learn how to take some time off too.
Don’t worry during my 2 weeks off (I’ll schedule it as soon as I know what are our family plan for the holidays) there will be plenty of super FUN homework ;)
